INTERPRETING FOR THE MEDIA

Specialised Interpreting in High-Media-Exposure Environments

We provide specialised interpreting services for the media sector, facilitating multilingual interaction in high-visibility information environments ranging from press conferences attended by hundreds of media outlets and broadcast live, to interviews with leading political and opinion figures or internationally renowned artists.

We operate at the intersection of political current affairs, cultural thought and elite sport, delivering specialised interpreting that conveys not only the content of a message but also the intention, nuance and precision required by global audiences.

Simultaneous interpreting, commonly used in live or recorded broadcasts, requires exceptional responsiveness and mastery of journalistic discourse. This enables us to render speeches immediately, avoiding interruptions and maintaining the natural rhythm of the interaction, while ensuring that political, technical or emotional nuances remain intact. Consecutive interpreting for interviews with international press and feature reports allows journalists to receive a structured, polished discourse ready to be quoted.

Our added value:

Media Pressure Management: We are accustomed to operating in environments of maximum exposure, enabling us to maintain composure and accuracy under the scrutiny of cameras.

Register Versatility: The ability to move seamlessly between the technical language of professional sport, political rhetoric and cultural discourse, adapting tone and terminology to the relevant discipline and media context.

Elite Track Record: Experience working for organisations such as Real Madrid, combined with interpreting for political thinkers such as Gerry Adams and cultural figures such as Sandi Hilal, provides us with a deep understanding of international communication protocols.

Thorough Advance Preparation: Every assignment is preceded by detailed preparation, including background analysis of speakers, contextual research, document review and precise terminology management.

Comprehensive Technical Management: Procurement and supervision of soundproof booths and high-fidelity audio equipment that comply with international quality standards, ensuring complete acoustic isolation.

Client Satisfaction:Thank you for your collaboration, the reporter was delighted.” (Antena 3); “…everyone highlighted your professionalism, from the Real Madrid team to the journalists…” (PlatinumOne Business Services)

Total Flexibility (On-site, Hybrid or Online): We adapt to any event format, ensuring high-quality hybrid or remote interpreting through the use of a simultaneous interpreting hub supported by specialised technicians and professional equipment.

SPEED AND RESPONSIVENESS

In the media environment, information is frequently conveyed live and under significant time pressure. Interpreting therefore requires considerable mental agility in order to render the message immediately while preserving the coherence and integrity of the discourse.

ADAPTATION TO JOURNALISTIC LANGUAGE

Media communication is characterised by a clear and concise style. Interpreters must therefore command the register specific to journalism, as well as current political, economic and social terminology, ensuring that statements are understood accurately in all the languages involved.

MANAGEMENT OF AUDIOVISUAL FORMATS

Media events take place within technical environments such as television studios or live broadcasts. Coordination with sound engineers and audiovisual production teamsis essential in order to integrate interpreting into the broadcast and ensure the quality and clarity of the message.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is Azucena Interpreters based?

Azucena Interpreters is based in Valencia, from where it coordinates conference interpreting services for companies, institutions and organisations. Its reach, however, is both national and international, providing services across Spain, Europe and other countries, in on-site, remote or hybrid formats.

Do you offer conference interpreting outside Valencia?

Yes. Although based in Valencia, simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services are provided in any city in Spain or abroad. Thanks to an international professional network, complete teams can also be coordinated for multilingual events at international congresses, institutional meetings and corporate events.

What materials does the interpreter need for preparation?

To ensure terminological accuracy, it is essential to have:

The detailed script or programme of the event, press conference or interview

Supporting materials from the speakers or guests, such as presentations, notes or audiovisual clips

Internal glossaries, specialised terminology, or reference documents related to the subject matter

The more information the interpreter receives, the better the interpretation can be adapted to the communicative style of the media or event, ensuring coherence and accuracy in real time.

Does Azucena Interpreters also handle the technical team?

Yes. In addition to interpreting, comprehensive management of technical equipment is provided, including:

 Interpreting booths

Sound systems

Individual receivers

Portable Infoport-type equipment

Full technical coordination of the event

This ensures that the client can focus on content and strategy, leaving multilingual communication in expert hands.

How far in advance should an interpreting service be booked?

It depends on the size of the event. For international congresses or complex multilingual events, it is recommended to make contact several weeks in advance.

For smaller meetings, availability can be confirmed on a shorter notice.

Is it necessary to hire two interpreters?

For simultaneous interpreting events lasting more than 45 minutes, international quality standards require interpreter pairs. This ensures that concentration and accuracy do not decline, as interpreters alternate every 20–30 minutes to maintain the highest level of precision.

Depending on the type and duration of the event, a single interpreter may be sufficient for consecutive or bilateral interpreting needs. Please contact us to discuss your specific case and receive personalised advice, completely without obligation.
